T3 – It was a beautiful day for running rugby, not the style of rugby T3 were wanting to play against a young a fast City side. The preparations before the game were great and this showed with the Phoons dominating the opening 15 minutes, keeping to the gameplay of tight rugby wearing away at City’s defence, which nearly resulted in a try for Eric which was unfortunately dislodged in the act of scoring. With barely a touch of the ball City score two breakaway tries in quick succession. Not letting the heads drop the Phoons replied in style as David & Paulie rounded off some excellent forwards play with Paulie converting both. It looked like it would end all square for the first half but sneaked a try late whilst the Phoons were down to 14 men after Phil was handed a team yellow. Second half started brightly with Paulie going over for his second try that could not be converted. With fitness starting to tell City started to find gaps in the defence and score two further tries. Pierre rewarded an excellent forwards display with a try toward the end but unfortunately we were unable to capitalise on further pressure. Certainly many positives to take away from the game and as the fitness improves these small loses will start to become wins. Phoons 26 City 35.
